What causes my frequent headaches and what can I do about it?

When asked if they have headaches, often my patients say "yes, just normal headaches."
Then when asked how often they have these headaches itusually ranges from 2-3 times per week to daily. Headaches are NOT normal.
Basic intervention would be increasing yourdaily water intake to your body weight in ounces. When your muscle and ligments get dehydrated they can get "sticky" which results in muscle and joint dysfunction. This causes referred pain the head causing headaches. Most often at the base of the skull. Stress management can also help reduce muscletension that contributes to headaches.
Statistically around 80% of tension type headaches are considered to be cervicogenic, meaning caused from dysfunction in the cervical spine (neck). Soft tissue (Graston Technique), Chiropractic& Physio Therapy are very effective means of treating the neck andeliminating frequent nagging headaches. Triggerpoint injections can also be very effective when other conservative optionshave failed to eliminate your headaches. If you suffer from headaches we would love the chance to get you back to pain free living in short order!
